Kids Classes

The philosophy of the Youth & Young Adult Program at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo originates from the core concepts of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, a Japanese martial art dating back to the 15th Century. When these concepts are applied, Youth & Young Adult Program students gain:

  • Awareness
  • Respect/Discipline
  • Responsibility
  • Flexibility
  • Patience
  • Joyfulness

These core concepts manifest the above ideals, creating the backbone for the Youth & Young Adult Program.

Currently, the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo is accepting Young Adult Students ages six and up. Each class, students focus on the fundamentals for a developing martial artist, including:

  • Stretching and Agility
  • Rolling (Taihenjutsu)
  • Striking (Dakkentaijutsu)
  • Basic Techniques (Kihon Happo)

Teachers will work with students to set goals for themselves to encourage and demonstrate progress and achievement.

The monthly cost of the kids classes is $40 per month, with discounts for additional children from the same family. This includes training up to eight times per month. To sign-up or stop by for a tour of the facility, please call (937) 436-0725, or e-mail the dojo. An instructor will contact you within 24 hours.

How Many Students Train at One Time?

Most classes consist of 8-15 students training. All classes are overseen by the Dunskys, who head-up the Youth & Young Adult Program, with assistance from volunteer adult instructors as needed. The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo Martial Arts School is equipped with 100 training mats, two changing/restrooms, a break area, and private offices, which provides a safe, friendly environment for students and parents. The private parking lot is conveniently located in front of the dojo.

Kid's Class Schedule & Teachers

The Dayton Bujinkan Dojo offers classes for children ages six and up. Below is the current Class Schedule for the Youth & Young Adult Program.

Wednesdays: 5:45 - 6:45 pm
Saturdays: 9:15 - 10:15 am

Students are encouraged to attend both classes per week. However, the instructors know how busy a young adult's life is (school, after school sports, extra-curricular activities, playtime, etc), so we recommend scheduling to attend at least one class per week for your child. On occasion, due to special events held on Saturdays every other month, a Saturday class will be rescheduled. The instructors will be in contact with you in the event this occurs.

Kids Class Lead Instructors:
Marty & Pam Dunsky have been training in the Bujinkan since the mid1990's, and instructors at the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo since 2000. Parents of three children who are now all out of high school/college/law school, they pride themselves as "Instructors with parenting experience".

Marty & Pam visit Japan yearly to continue their own martial arts training. Marty's career is as a licensed Emergency Room Physician (D.O.), where he practices at two Dayton hospitals. Pam's career is as a business executive for a global financial corporation in the Miami Valley. Both volunteer their time to teach the Youth & Young Adult Program at the Dojo.

In addition to Marty & Pam, assistance instructors from the Adult Program also help teach the Kid's classes as needed.
